From bird watching to farm tours and everything in between, we offer a variety of experiences that are sure to leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Outdoor activities at Goodstone Inn are dependent on the weather. Before participating, all guests must sign an Activities Waiver. Some activities are free of charge, while others require a fee. Our Guest Services team can assist you in signing up for activities during your stay. Detailed information and fees can be found on the online booking platform for guests with a confirmed reservation at Goodstone Inn.

Farm & Garden Tours

Our Goodstone Inn Gardener will take you on a garden and farm tour of our sustainable gardens where we provide produce and fruit for the Chef's farm to table dishes. They will then give a tour of the farm animals and explain the different types we have. We have chickens, goats, donkeys, sheep, and a lovely Llama named Grayson. They will also educate you on certain plant identifications and explain the health benefits of certain herbs and flowers.

Guided Hike, Wildlife, Tai Chi, and Canoe/Kayak

For our Guided Nature Hike, we will explore the trails along the meadows, Goose Creek (beaches/boulders), and nearby forests. Additionally, we will visit the farm to see the Goodstone gardens and barn animals. Afterward, we will take a walk down to the pond for a canoeing/kayak adventure.

Tai Chi

Join us for a complimentary 45-minute Tai Chi experience Tuesday through Saturday at 10 am by the pool. We focus on mindfulness through slow movements, breathing, and body-mind awareness. We share the basics of Tai Chi and how to apply it in our daily lives for relaxation and balance techniques. Grounding exercises are also practiced, and we explore the benefits of these techniques.

Short Guided Hike & Kayak Trip

Join us on a guided hike along scenic Goose Creek for an immersive nature experience. Following the hike, we will embark on a kayaking adventure, exploring hidden beaches and majestic natural boulders along the creek. We learn Leave No Trace Principles so we all can enjoy nature and be stewards of our planet. We also introduce Japanese forest bathing concepts to enhance nature connection through our senses.

Sensory Meditation & Matcha Tea Making

Join us for a unique Matcha and Green Tea experience, combined with Mindful Meditations to awaken your senses and enhance your mindfulness practice. During this activity, we will explore visual, aroma, taste, touch, and sound techniques aimed at heightening your sensory awareness and integrating mindfulness into every aspect of your life.

Bird Watching

At Goodstone, we provide a pair of binoculars and a bird watching guide in every room to help you spot birds of Hunt Country. Additionally, we have partnered with the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy to offer Educational Bird Walks. We invite you to join us for these educational experiences and discover the beauty of bird watching.

Firepits

Enjoy a cozy evening under the stars with our thoughtfully placed fire pits throughout the Goodstone property. Our large communal fire pit, located near the pool and lawn game area, invites guests to gather for a warm, relaxed experience. Additionally, several of our cottages feature private fire pits, perfect for an intimate evening surrounded by nature. We provide fire starter kits, wood, and kindling to make it easy for you to enjoy this outdoor experience.

Lawn Games

We believe in creating moments of joy and connection through playful activities. Our game lawn offers a variety of complimentary lawn games, including shuffleboard, corn hole, and ladder golf, perfect for friendly competition in a picturesque setting. We have giant Jenga and croquet available, adding a touch of nostalgia to your stay. Our cottages are stocked with a selection of board games, ensuring that you and your loved ones can enjoy quality time together.

Bicycles

Discover the beauty of Goodstone’s 265-acre property on two wheels with our complimentary bikes, available for all guests. Exploring by bike is the perfect way to take in the stunning views, rolling hills, and serene landscapes that define our estate. Whether you're pedaling through lush meadows, winding along Goose Creek, or simply enjoying the fresh country air, our bikes offer a fun and leisurely way to see all that Goodstone has to offer.

Activities Manager

Meet Greg McCarley

Greg McCarley is the current Activities Manager at Goodstone Inn & Restaurant. He graduated with a degree in Outdoor Recreation and Leadership and focuses on Wellness/Wilderness activities. He is also a certified Nature Connected Life Coach through Earth Base Institute and practices mindfulness. After years of Martial Arts and learning to compete, he now focuses on relaxation, balance, and awareness techniques through Tai Chi and Meditation studies. He enjoys guiding guests through nature and sharing Tai Chi, Meditation, and Recreational experiences for sensory awareness.
